Laura Belschner
(pronouns: she/her/hers)

Laura is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) and a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University. She received training in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related issues (including emetophobia) at the OCD Clinic at BC Children's Hospital and the Mindfulness Clinic in Toronto. Laura is also experienced in supporting individuals with depression, grief and loss, as she worked at the Survivor Support Program in Toronto and Dragonstone Counselling in Vancouver.

Laura draws on a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her therapy style is strength-based, collaborative, and rooted in trust and compassion. Additionally, she has experience assessing children and adolescents experiencing learning difficulties, behavioural and attention problems. ​

CERTIFICATION

​Laura is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC #15507). She received formal training in CBT for OCD and related disorders through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). She is a member of the International OCD Foundation, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES

​Laura is originally from Germany and moved to Vancouver in 2013 during her Master's degree, where she fell in love with the mountains, the coast, and life here in Canada. In her spare time, she loves cycling, hiking, and trying out new recipes.
